The 3rd ABS-CBN Interschool Newscasting Competition goes full-throttle

The cast is finally complete.

The 3rd ABS-CBN Interschool Newscasting Competition elimination round was a big success as top and potential student newscasters in Iloilo city have been finally selected, besting all other competitors--both in high school and college--to compete in the 3 rd Interschool Newscasting Competition Grand Finals in the month of August.

The three weeks of tedious screening had positive results as the cream of the crop of each schools have finally seen the spotlight.

Six students coming from six reputable colleges and universities in Iloilo will represent their respective institutions in the collegiate level; twelve students will also vie for the coveted prize in the high school category.

In the tertiary level, Rabbi Chris Carvajal will represent the Central Philippine University, Airelle Marise Hizo--West Visayas State University, Lou Marie Sabellano--Saint Paul University, Ma. Soccoro Zaldivar--University of iloilo, Donna Marie Baldeviso--University of the Philippines in the Visayas, and Lourez Maquinto--University of San Agustin.

The newscasting competition, now on its third year, also made a landmark when the University of San Agustin joined the elite competition for the first time.

The competition was also opened to high school hopefuls this year. Included in the magic twelve are Joshua Misajon from the Central Philippine University, Melchor Atellero--Philippine Science High school, Nurhana Sa-ad--Iloilo National High School, Beverly Gregorios--Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, Christine Jarencio--University of San Agustin, Shera Tevez--Western Visayas College of Science and Technology, Ethel Sia--Ateneo de Iloilo, Julie de los Santos--De Paul College, Alfredo Parisal--Jalandoni Memorial National High School, Rene Joy Buna--Iloilo City Commercial High School, Sheryl Mae Manalo--Colegio De San Jose, and Joseph Dumagpe--University of the Philippines in the Visayas.

The 3rd ABS-CBN newscasting competition goes full-throttle, as each schools slug it out to don the honors as the new champion in the 3rd ABS-CBN Interschool Newscasting Competition Grand Finals come August 27. The U.P. in the Visayas was last year's defending champion.
