These programs are BS Mathematics, offered by AMA Computer College-Bacolod, BS Biology by the College of St. John-Roxas (formerly La Salle-Roxas Affiliate), Roxas City.

The programs which were voluntarily closed due to failure to comply with requirements prescribed by the CHED were the BS in Electronics and Communications Engineering and BS Computer Engineering, both offered by AMA Computer College – Iloilo City.  CHED said that for school year 2005-2006, the concerned schools are not supposed to accept enrollees for these courses.

On the other hand, three private schools have voluntarily closed their college departments because of very low enrolment.  These are the Good Shepherd' Fold Academy in Buenavista, Guimaras, PIUS XII Catechetical Institute, Jaro, Iloilo City and the Palmares Computer College in Lapaz, Iloilo City.

Meanwhile, CHEDRO 6 gave permission to seven colleges and universities to operate programs previously ordered for phase-out because of poor performance in board examinations, upon their request.  These programs are BS Accountancy offered by the University of Iloilo, BSE by Aklan State University-Makato campus, BSE by Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College, Estancia, Iloilo, BS Accountancy by Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, Roxas City, BS Accountancy by West Negros College, bacolod City, BS Nursing by St. Gabriel College, Kalibo, Aklan, BS Accountancy by Western Institute of Technology, Iloilo City and BS electrical engineering by \colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, Roxas City.

Still in pursuit of its goal of “Quality and Excellence”, CHED maximized the services of the Regional Quality Assessment Team in the issuance of government permit and recognition to new and existing programs in higher education.

Dr. Casiple said that for school year 2004-2005, CHEDRO granted initial permits to 36 new programs, renewal permits to 52 existing programs, special permit to 1 program, and government recognition to 23 programs.

Programs are called “Recognized” upon 100% compliance of the minimum requirements prescribed by CHED.  To date also, there are 54 programs by private colleges and universities which were not yet issued renewal permits or recognition to operate such, thus students are advised to verify the permit or recognition of the programs they are enrolled in to avoid problems upon graduation.  (CHEDRO/PIA 6)
