Ex-rebel chief loses cellphone to snatcher

She was once dreaded for her stint as a key figure in the communist New People's Army (NPA) with her own stronghold in Panay. But over the weekend, Maria Luisa "Kumander Posa" Dominado became the latest victim of cellphone snatchers in Lapaz District.

The incident as reported to police happened about 4:45 am when the former rebel chief was along a mall by Luna Street, Lapaz. She was on her usual routine of walking to the Iloilo Sports Complex for her daily exercise when chanced upon by a really brave and really early snatcher. In seconds, Kumander Posa lost to the unidentified male suspect her Nokia 6110 making her the third victim within the 24-hour period that time.

"Kung nabal-an lang sang snatcher kung sin-o nabiktima niya, sigurado gid idul-ong niya balik ang kinawatan niya pero (If only the snatcher knows who he victimized, for sure he will return what he took)," a policeman said in jest. (F. Hibionada)
