“Gutten”

While in Hongkong again, we met an old friend of ours who was formerly here in the Philippines. He is an Indian national who has set up business in the British colony. As past President of the Indian community in the locality, he and his wife invited us to dinner at the Indian Club.

The dinner fare was all good but there is one dish that was outstanding because it was deliciously cooked. It is called “gutten.” When we finished dinner, we asked our host what meat is used to make “gutten.” It's goat meat, came the answer, which confirmed what we were thinking all along while we were eating. Imagine, we never liked goat meat before!
