Three years of Kids At Art

Kids At Art started 13 years ago in Manila under teacher Rita Badillo-Gudiño who finished a degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines. She worked together with another gifted artist named Teacher Endo Pascasio and before they knew it, KAA has already been celebrating many years of success, helping young people to develop their artistry and enhance their talent in the many different art mediums.

According to KAA Manager Elaine Marie Fernandez, three years ago, it was Mr. Ian Seruelo who brought Kids At Art to Iloilo City much to the delight of young people who wished to learn from skillful mentors, and parents who wanted to entrust their children to teachers who incorporate the scientific way of teaching art. To quote what teacher Ian have said, “ You cannot just give a child a piece of paper and tell them to do whatever they want using different colors. I believe every child can be molded into becoming a talented artist… but then again everything lies on his or her degree of interest.

When he was given the opportunity to put up KAA Summer Workshop 2003, Mr. Seruelo did not think twice about the project. “ It all started as a hobby but later on it grew and became a passion. KAA is his way of passing on to the children his great love for art, ” says Fernandez.

On KAA's third year in Iloilo City, they had 13 students who all finished the workshop with flying colors. These summer, KAA Head Teacher Rose Solis watched as these kids graduate from the KAA Summer Workshop. She agrees that nothing can be more rewarding than knowing you are able to lead many young people into discovering what they can do with their little hands and how far their imagination can go.

With Kids At Art, children are taught to use different art mediums like oil and pastel; sculpture and crafts which include subtractive and additive methods; painting by using water color, tempera and ink and poster paint; and drawing with the use of ink, pen, crayon and oil pastel.

Now that classes have ended, the kid's artworks are on exhibit at the Foodcourt Area of Robinsons Place Iloilo. Let's take a peek of Kids At Art Summer Workshop 2005.
