2nd Kayaba Festival on June 25


Manila Broadcasting Company's Aksyon Radyo Iloilo gears up for the upcoming 2 nd Kayaba Festival this coming June 25, 2005.

Last Saturday, a memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed among the big event's media partners and sponsors.

Also present in the MOA signing was Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas and Jordan, Guimaras Sangguniang Bayan Member Eros Elevencione.

Kayaba Festival is fully supported by the city and provincial governments of Iloilo and the municipal government of Jordan, Guimaras and the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6.

Kayaba Festival project director Jay Balnig said this year's holding of the event would be more exciting and full of surprises.

He said the cross-channel swim which is the highlight of the event will start from Jordan, Guimaras up to the Fort San Pedro Drive Inn or a distance of 2 nautical miles.

Lots of fun and prizes also await the spectators at Fort San Pedro Drive Inn as Aksyon Radyo and its sponsors prepare a variety show from noon until the midnight.

The fun and excitement will be capped by the Kayaba Bodies competition organized by the Uno Productions in the evening.

During the MOA signing, Treñas declared that the Kayaba Festival would be included in the Visit Iloilo-Guimaras 2006 project. With this, Aksyon Radyo station manager John Paul Tia assured that they would make Kayaba Festival worthy of becoming part of the city's tourism attractions.

The Kayaba Festival 2005 is also brought in part by Ginebra San Miguel, Fort San Pedro Drive Inn, 97.5 Love Radio, 92.3 YES!-fm, ABS-CBN TV-10 Iloilo, The News Today, Cable Star, Aksyon Communicators, Panay News and Hublas.

Application forms for those who wanted to join the Kayaba Langoy and the Kayaba Bodies are available at Aksyon Radyo office in Overton Building, Rizal St., Jaro, Iloilo City.
