Once there was a thief

Provincial Administrator Manuel "Boy" Mejorada had finally survived the grilling conducted by the House Committee on Good Government a week ago. It was the fourth round of the congressional inquiry on the alleged anomaly with regard to the construction of the Iloilo Airport Development Project which started early this year.

It was Boy's shining moment. He articulately defended himself from the investigating panel. It was the same group who desperately tried to slit the throat and stab Gov. Niel D. Tupas, Sr. at the back as they are seemingly obsessed to taste the blood of a noble man.

At one instance, in the midst of the inquiry, a lady solon, perceived to be a misfit in the group, unnecessarily complained in a theatrical manner why she was considered not having a fair beauty.

Distasteful I tell you! She could have gone to a salon or seek advice from some well-known beauty experts -- the likes of Fanny Serrano, Ricky Reyes or Dr. Vicky Belo, perhaps, had she desperately wanted to improve her physical assets (presuming there is) or in need of a surgical beauty treatment. For sure she knows better than this, after all she is a doctor.

People in the gallery reportedly burst into laughter, amused by the antics of this lady solon. They thought she has a vey, very bright future ahead of her in the entertainment industry and could even give the famous Ai-ai de las Alas a run for her money.

Adding insult to injury, another solon made a similar gesture. The same solon was maliciously insinuated with a questionable sex preference by Mac Nava, a feisty broadcaster in the region noted for his acidic commentaries against political personalities without fear. Behaving like a child robbed of his candy by a playmate, he took the opportunity of taking the center stage in the Hall of Congress to make "sumbong" before the HONORABLE members of his committee. Oh merciful God what have we done to deserve this kind of leaders? Please show us the way.

Another member of the said committee had the temerity to call me a mercenary. His attitude towards me is understandable since I used to write favorable write ups of his administration while he was still the Father of the Province. All I can say, my conscience is clear. Never did I allow myself, not even once, to be used by any politician to ruin others' reputation for monetary consideration. I dare him to produce a single evidence if ever he has and sue me in court. God is my witness.

However, unknown to the initiator of this inquiry, who started all the chaos with the cooperation of the bloated man from the capitol and the inseparable twins, the Office of the Ombudsman is all set to have him jailed soonest would he be found guilty of falsification of public documents. Watch out.

The nerves he has, calling Gov. Niel D. Tupas, Sr. a thief?

"Thinkers are doers." Has he forgotten this philosophical dictum from a sage.

My advice to this barker, er, former broadcaster, "if your house is made of glass, don't ever attempt to stone other's" or you'll find yours crashing into pulverized pieces, and you'll never know why.

He reminds me of an old Hollywood movie, "Once there was a thief..."
