P3-M sales generated from Aklan's Fiber Festival 2005


The recent Fiber Festival held at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, Kalibo, Aklan 22-28 April 2005 generated total sales of almost P3M. Department of Trade and Industry Aklan Provincial Director Ermelinda P. Pollentes said, that this year's sale is 42% higher than last year which is P2.1M.

The highest sales performance went to the furniture sector with P1.2M followed by Tsibugan exhibitors with P515,229.60, Loomweaving P491,855.55, Garden/Cutflower P385,198.00, Food/Bakery P139,732.50, the LGUs with P128,224.90, Gifts & Housewares with P102,205.00 and Kalahi/Sagana 100 with P20,342.00.

Meanwhile, the contest winners for the Best Booth went to: for Crafts- Heritage Arts & Crafts, for Food - Helen's Cake Gallery and for Cutflower, it was RB Plants Galore . For the Best Products, the winners are: for Loomwoven Bag- Uswag Arts & Crafts, for Loomwoven Shawl- Heritage Arts & Crafts, for Loomwoven Fabric- Culdora Piña Cloth, for Slippers and Sandals- it's San Ramon Abaca Slippers Ass'n, for the Handmade Paper- Copycat Enterprises , Clay-Based category- Lida's Bricks & Pottery , Nito Craft - De la Cruz House of Piña, and for Furniture - C & A Alternative Designs & Metal Fabrication.

For the Best Product Collection, the winners are: for Loomwoven items- La Herminia piña weaving Industry , for clay based products- Yabut's Pottery , Hand-made paper items- Copycat Enterprises , and for furniture, the award went to Inamarga Furniture.

The contest winners received trophies and cash prizes at the Awarding Ceremonies of the 49th Anniversary Celebration of Aklan held on 25 April 2005 at the ABL Sports Complex. Honored guests during the opening of the fair were DTI Undersecretary Zorayda Amelia C. Alonzo along with Director Franklin P. Bunoan of CITC and DTI Regional Director Dominic P. Abad.
