My Brother-in-law & Other Stories

The array

Recently, I was  a wedding sponsor.  I liked it because I have the chance to listen again to the marriage vows that the bride and groom take during the wedding ceremony.  When I got married I did not listen to them. I was in love!

But this time the priest who officiated in the wedding simply went too far.  He also asked  the mother of the groom to take a vow.

In that part of the wedding  when the array is blessed by the priest and the groom would pour the coins to the open palms of the bride to receive them, he called the mother of the groom to first step forward.

“From this day on your son  will no longer be giving you his income but to his wife who is present here.  Do you agree?”  The officiating priest asked the mother.

“Yes, Father, I do!” The mother of the groom replied.
