Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) ranked eighth while the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) ranked sixth in the recently concluded performance evaluation.

The performance evaluation was made among the six provincial police offices, two city police offices and the Regional Mobile Group here in Western Visayas.

It covers the period January 1 to March 31, 2005.

The nine police units under PRO 6 was evaluated based on eight criteria: police community relations, operations, intelligence, investigation, human resource, logistics, personnel, and research and development.

IPPO registered an evaluation rating of 814.41 per cent while the ICPO has a rating of 823.08.

Bacolod City Police Office ranked number one with a rating of 851.92.

Negros Occidental Police Office follows with a rating of 848.95.

Ranking third is the Guimaras Provincial Police Office with a rating of 839.21.

Number four is the Aklan Provincial Police Office with 839.03 rating.

Capiz Provincial Police Office ranked fifth with a rating of 827.22 rating.

On the seventh ranking is the Antique Provincial Police Office with a 817.42 rating.

Ironically, the Regional Mobile Group got the lowest rating of 762.72.

Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas, Sr. merely laughed when asked of his reaction on the IPPO's poor performance rating.

“For me the IPPO led by provincial director Senior Supt. Efren Quintos is doing their job well, I have trust and confidence in our provincial director,” Tupas said.

Tupas cited that recently the province was again awarded as among the ten jueteng-free provinces in the country.

“This simply proves that our police force is working well,” the governor said.

Relatedly, IPPO's crime solution efficiency dropped from 92.16% for the 1 st quarter last year to 87.64% for the same period this year.

The same is true with the ICPO, from 96.47% for the same period last year its crime solution efficiency dropped to 90.28%.

Records, however, show that the total crime volume in Iloilo province increased as compared to last year's data.

Last year the total crime volume for Iloilo province for the first quarter was 255, this year it reached 275.

On the other hand, Iloilo City's total crime volume for the first quarter dropped from last year's 85 to this year's 72.

In this year's data, Negros Occidental Police Office registered a crime solution efficiency of 99% while Bacolod City Police Office has a crime solution efficiency of 98%.
