Was it a House probe or a circus?

Very disgusting and disappointing!

This was how many Ilonggos described the circus called “Congressional Investigation” tasked by the Committee on Good Government of the House of Representatives held at the Centennial Hotel in Iloilo City last April 21.

“Disgusting” because the real motive of the inquisitors was actually to harass and intimidate some local public officials led by Gov. Niel Tupas, Sr. who were summoned to appear before the jurors.

Committee chair Rep. Arthur Defensor could have sanitized the cast; only congressmen with proven integrity and competence should have been given the green signal to participate in the forum.

“Disappointing” because the probe for the umpteenth time, yielded nothing but garbage talk from rumor-mongerers who wasted the taxpayers' money.

Those in the committee who wanted to insidiously scalp Tupas and company could not hide their mannerism which is to append all the macabre wrongdoings to the hapless but cool governor whenever the opportunity presented itself.

There was this overacting lady solon who has mastered the mangling of the English grammar but had the chutzpah to insult the conqueror of her tatay. It was good that Tupas, an astute 30-year political veteran, is made of sterner stuff otherwise he would have shrunk in exhaustion vis-à-vis the pressure wrought by the mongoloids pretending to be honorable members of Congress.

Tupas has never turned his back from his adversaries. The more he is wounded, the lethal are the knives penetrating deeper into his throat courtesy by merciless members of the congressional circus.

Some of the holier-than-thou solons were acting like spoiled brats with the full backing of their political godfathers who are salivating to bury a bolo in the intestines of the governor for selfish and malevolent reasons.

We cannot fathom the reason behind the extreme hatred of these characters against Tupas. Kulang na lang duplaan nila ang gobernador. The inseparable twins, for instance, only shamed themselves when they badmouthed their former boss and friend, the man who helped feed their families when they were still in the corridors of power in Capitol. Who is the real wala utang nga kabalaslan, twins?

When we were still kids, our parents had taught us never to bite the hands that feed us. Nowadays, this virtue and wisdom of the good ‘ol days are no longer being taken into consideration, especially in politics. What we have today are fair-weather friends and bogus political allies who will take advantage of the friendship by demanding favor after favor even if the favor already boarders on immorality and illegality. They don't care about the negative consequences of the uncanny favor they would ask.

Such are the characters of some people who formed a beeline for job order immediately after Gov. Tupas won his reelection last year. Once already part of the team these good-for-nothing characters demanded sky-rocketing and puke-inducing favors from the good governor.

When Tupas rejected the favors they were asking, they started to badmouth Tupas behind his back. Some of them even had the gal to attend the congressional hearing and spit in his face like traitors in the Roman Empire who murdered Julius Caesar.
