Rebels on the offensive?

The members of the New People's Army (NPA) had again faced-off with Philippine Army men early Sunday morning.

The Philippine Army's Task Force Panay reported that a team of Company 47 Infantry Battalion led by 2Lt. Rowel Tabas encountered some nine rebels believed to be under Jojie Belo alias “Glen” at around 12:40 a.m. at Brgy . Alcalaga , Calinog , Iloilo .

Initial report noted there was no casualty on the government troop while it was also undetermined on the NPA's side.

“Recovered from the scene of the incident were three magazines of M14 rifle, 37 rounds of live ammunitions of 7.62mm, personal belongings of the NPAs and subversive documents,” the report said.

The military also conducted a hot pursuit operation under the supervision of Col. Nestor Ochoa and Lt.C . Mariano Antonio Perez, Jr.

The attack came after the reported sightings of armed group in central towns of Iloilo .
