'IPPO is doing well'

Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) provincial director Senior Supt. Efren Quintos told the Iloilo media that his office is doing well as regards the maintenance of the peace and order in the province.

Quintos noted their “good” accomplishment in arresting wanted persons as well as in the campaign against illegal fishing and cattle rustling.

As of the January up February this year, Quintos said that IPPO's men have arrested a total of 116 wanted persons including two most wanted persons.

The two most wanted persons are: Edwin Trigo and Ronnie Dearos with cases of murder and double murder, respectively.

In their anti-illegal fishing drive, Quintos summed up that 224 illegal fishers were arrested. Further, in the same cases, the mobile group has recovered 64 fishing vessels. The IPPO chief explained that of the total arrested persons in illegal fishing, his office has already filed 73 cases in court.

Meanwhile, in terms of cattle rustling activities, the IPPO was able to recover ten stolen cattle of the 24 reported missing from January up to February.

Most of the stolen cattle come from the 1 st district.

He said they are tightening the campaign against cattle rustling activities because he believed that an organized group is behind such illegal act.

Further, he explained that they have also nabbed a member of the organized group and learned that they are involved in various illegal activities.

He also warned cattle owners to be vigilant and be responsible enough for the safety of their cattle.

Quintos said mobile check points are done in random especially during the wee hours of the morning to avert cattle rustling especially in the barangays.
