My Brother-in-law and other stories

My doctor's advice

We had our family doctor since I was a kid. We are lucky that he did not leave for abroad to seek greener pastures because of his aging mother that he wanted to take care.

I like him   and he has become family to us.    He is very thorough in his medical   examination.

But during one such consultation when I saw him,   I was surprised that this time, as soon as I sat down in front of his desk, he promptly   pushed to me a ready prescription.   It read:

“Get married!”

What do you mean, Doc? I asked

“For a couple of years now, I have been prescribing   for   you all kinds of vitamins because you said that you wanted to gain weight.   But   I do not see any improvement and I give up. So my prescription now is for you to get married.”   he explained.

Strange medical prescription, I thought. But I followed my doctor's advice and got married! The idea made me come home early and,    the fact that I found a   wife that   cooks well,    it is only   this time that   I started to gain weight!
