If only for humanitarian reason, it took Gov. Niel D. Tupas quite a long while until he finally reached the point of letting the cat out of the bag. His decision to unravel the dirty game his tormentor engaged into should have been acted earlier before the harm has been done. Nonetheless, everything is not yet too late.

The pest resorted to an emotional outburst. It was but a natural reaction, especially when one is unmasked exposing his soul in the process.

The governor has been lenient to this pest. He trusted him without reservation. Other than just being a political ally and a partymate in the recent elections, he treated him well as if he was his long lost son.

When the governor leaves on official trip, the latter would readily take over as officer-in-charge. He was so proud enjoying every single minute the chance to govern and sign various documents that need immediate attention so as not to hamper basic public services while his mentor is away. It was something new to him. It gives him a sense of heavenly fulfillment and self-importance.

It was then his moment of glorification. He dreamt of elevating himself to a higher level of political ambition. Suddenly there was an air of euphoria. He got drunk and was in a state of convulsive happiness. He was amazingly a man in a hurry. All this however was just a fleeting moment of pleasure when his umbilical cord was cut off clean by the governor. It was for the best interest of the province when the governor made his solomonic wisdom.

For anybody to become a successful seasoned leader, one needs a longer exposure. He must possess the ability to discern; he got to be humane and humble. Experience and innate wisdom are also essentially important, to say the least. Unfortunately, the pest is devoid from all of the above.

After all he has never been one, not at this moment and never will be in the future.

Even his enticement daring the governor for a public debate just to determine who between them is a congenital liar was totally uncalled for. The honorable governor deserves a little respect better than this. He could have invited his kind; the likes of a certain Mel Carreon and company perhaps, and I tell you nobody would ever give a hoot.

Planet Mars is the most appropriate venue for them to hold their own battle. There they could do anything under the sun. They can curse, shout at the top of their voice or better, undress themselves totally naked for a fist fight, and the hell we care. Oh, God I could just imagine…

I have a feeling the current events taking place under the leadership of Gov. Niel D. Tupas is somewhat providential.   For one it gives him more time to strengthen his style of governance. His dream to bring the lost glorious era back to the province of Iloilo where it belonged is already within reach.

With the near completion of Iloilo Airport of international standard in Cabatuan-Sta . Barbara, the construction of the new Iloilo Rehabilitation Center (IRC) in Pototan and the imminent rise of Mirant's ‘state-of-the-art' coal-fired power plant in Barotac Viejo, to mention a few, is definitely propelling Iloilo on its way to progress.

Anybody who would prevent us Ilonggos to reach this goal deserves to be assassinated without question. Not even the attempt of a bloated man, allegedly an inherent opportunist from the capitol volunteering to be a peacemaker “kuno ” between the governor and his tormentor could grab the limelight from the real issue.

Now, show me your face, gents!
