First paramedical, technical school in Iloilo opens

Medicus in partnership with the Philippine Paramedical and Technical School (PPTS) offers the first in the vocational Nursing course in the Philippines .

Engr . Arturo Lacuesta , PPTS President, said that their institution holds the record of being the first in the Philippines to offer a 15-month vocational nursing course with a US-based curriculum.

It is committed to produce competent Licensed Practical Nurses as well as other health related courses.

The said school is accredited by the TESDA, and the biggest nursing organizations in US such as: National League of Nursing (NLN), National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and National Association of Practical Nursing Education Services (NAPNES). He emphasized that it is the first nursing school visited by Gregory T. Howard, Chairman of the CGFNS/LPN standards committee.

Lacuesta said they have chosen Medicus as their partner because it is the best in medical and health services.

He said that with the partnership with Medicus the institution could fulfill the vision of Filipinos to be educated and skilled in health care course, and be employed in US and in other foreign countries.  

He emphasized that PPTS should not be mistaken as an ordinary school offering caregiver courses because there school helps their graduates to be employed abroad.

He said that their graduates are in demand in the US because it is the only school that has a US curriculum and accredited by NLN.

The school is located at the Masonic Temple Building fronting Plaza Libertad in Iloilo . It offers 24 months ladderized nursing course based on a US curriculum, three months Certified Nursing Aid (CAN) and 15 Months Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). He stressed that the practical nursing they offer is already equivalent to that of a registered nurse. He assured that students who are graduates of PPTS have a sure work abroad.
