Ilonggo artists set activities for Arts Month

In line with the celebration of Arts Month this February the artists of Iloilo City unified and organized significant activities that will strengthen and instill the value of art to the consciousness of the Ilonggos through “ Bwasdango ”, a series of month long art-related events.

“We really aim to awaken the consciousness of the Ilonggos to appreciate the value of arts in our present society as a response to this year's Arts month theme which is ‘ Sining gising ,” said artist Yannie Noble.

“We believe that art is a powerful medium to preserve our cultural heritage and fortify its role as catalyst of change,” notable writer and photographic artist Tara Yap said with great conviction.

“Every artist has the responsibility for the common good of our society and appreciation of arts,” PG Zoluaga , a well-known local artist added during the sensible interaction with the local media.

These are the various activities that were launched recently and about to open next few weeks: February 14; Jaro Belfry-En Restrospectiva by Tara Yap at UPV Iloilo Campus, Self-Portraits by Baysulangpu Art Group at UP Art Gallery, February 15-18; Pelikula at Lipunan in various private and public schools in the city, February 16; “2 Installation” by PG Zoluaga and Momo Dalisay at UP Art Gallery, February 17; “Paintings and Scrapbooks” by Circulo Artist at   USA Alumni   Center, February 23; Rotary Art Auction Sale at 7pm, Hotel Del Rio, February 25; BWASDANGO exhibit at 6 pm, Iloilo National High School Gallery, February 26; Musical   Night at 012, February 28; Art Talk at 6pm, Iloilo National High School Gallery,   March 3; Iloilo Concerned Artists for Environment (ICARE) Concert at 6 pm, Iloilo Provincial Capitol Grounds.
