Dennis Cunanan, JCI National President
Upholding the will to be of service to humanity.

JCI National President Senator Dennis Cunanan is a man of radiant visions and dreams.

Dennis Cunanan might be one of today's fitting entities to earn the senatorial post of the republic in the near future but one thing remained transparent in his unending quest for excellence and lasting change: He has the heart to serve and realize his radiant visions. He's a strong-spirited man, a soul of brilliant wisdom, compassionate heart and a true example of a dynamic leader capable of inspiring his fellowmen to hope for progress. If you would compare him to the likes of Senator Mar Roxas or the ever-gorgeous Cong. Juan Miguel Zubiri, “Decu” (as often called by his friends) isn't far away from their mesmerizing charm, personality and wit that ceaselessly inspire everyone especially when he talks about his sentiments with confidence and optimism.

Presently, he is the elected National President of Junior Chamber International Philippines wherein he exudes prolific and effective leadership to realize the greatest goal of the Jaycees which is “faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life… and that service to humanity is the best work of life”.

Before his life as Jaycees led him to his radiant destiny, Dennis lived a life full of achievements and service to humanity.

Since his early days, Dennis, a Pampangueño, was already a consistent honor student during his elementary and high school years. He earned his college degree in B.A. Public Administration at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City   while serving as the Student Regent of the Board of Trustees, the highest policy making body of the state university. After college life, Dennis proved his effectiveness and worth in public governance and service after he was successfully elected as municipal councilor of his hometown in Magalang, Pampanga from 1995 to 1998 while briefly serving as Acting Vice Mayor. In the year 2000 to 2001, he was the appointed Executive Director of the National Youth Commission and later served as Head Executive Assistant of House Speaker Jose de Venecia. In fact, early last year Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo assigned him as the Presidential Adviser on Youth Affairs and at the same time the Executive Director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Presently, he continues to prove his public service governance as the appointed Deputy Director of the Technology Livelihood Resource Center (TLRC).

Dennis Cunanan's burning desire and mission to serve humanity beyond his personal interest inspired him to enter the challenging life of the Jaycees and their world of humility, selfless public service and will to create lasting reformation that propagate universal harmony. His years of countless public service experience honed his entrepreneurial skills, God-given wisdom, effective leadership qualities and compassion for humanity fatefully led to his solid career in the Jaycees after he was inducted as the organization's regular member in February 1996 in Angeles Culiat Jaycees. Eventually he served as Charter President of his LOM, the Magalang Mekeni Jaycees of Central Luzon Region in the same year. In 1999, he was appointed as the National Project Chairman of the then newly-revived national project, the “Voice of Democracy” Oratorical Contest (VOPD). The following year, he was elected as National Vice President for Central Luzon and later, seeking for higher post he was again elected to the position as National Senior Executive Vice President (NSEVP) in the year 2001. He firmly believes that this strong international organization could provide better training ground for young leaders, business connections, and opportunities that aspiring young leaders like him and others were dreaming. So, with his burning desire and to further prove his vibrant leadership he ran again this year and was fortunate enough to be elected as the JCI-Philippines National President for 2005.

JCI Senator Dennis Cunanan's mission is to serve humanity with all his heart.

With his invigorated and refueled passion to serve, he has this valuable words to his fellow Jaycees during the induction of the new set of officers and members of JCI Tamasak of Barotac Nuevo and JCI Metro Iloilo Dinagyang last January 22, 2005…” We have clearly identified the areas and programs that your new set of officers would like to pursue under the following major pillars namely; training, entrepreneurship and re-integration of the family into the organization”. He continued with great determination and eloquence of a true leader by heart and soul…”We have to learn from the painful lessons of the past as well as build on their successes for we don't have the luxury of committing the same mistakes and keep on reinventing the wheel over and over again. We have more than enough success stories in our arsenal to catapult us forward and march in greater strides towards a more accurate direction. Our vision is no different from those who came before us but we are taking no shortcut this time. We will labor if we must for there is no substitute for hard work and excellence”. These were the strong and essential words of Dennis Cunanan that deeply touched every Jaycees' hearts and inspire souls to strive for excellence that night in Amigo Terrace Hotel. Even Senator Bong Revilla, the guest speaker of the event truly appreciated the sage words of the JCI National President who never failed to prove his worth and will to be of service to humanity.

But amid his hectic and pressuring life as a sage captain of a prestigious organization, JCI National President Dennis Cunanan remains to be a responsible husband to his lovely wife Maria Anna Fernandez-Cunanan and father of his three children who happily resides in Quezon City. Here, he sows his dreams not only for his chosen path as a public servant but as a gentle-hearted man who continues to build a home filled with compassion.
