A serpent on the loose

Hi, I'm back. Not a big deal though.

Sorry, no offense meant, but I just felt not obligated to explain my “hibernation” especially to the messengers of gossip.

Months after the recent elections, one particular broadcast station noted for distorting facts and issues has been constantly attacking Gov. Niel D. Tupas, accusing him of so many crimes in the book.

I was given the impression that the subject of their consternation was a man of evil. Tupas was treated like a convict. I couldn't fathom the rationale why their hatred towards the old man is beyond reason.

On several instances, one reporter would call the governor early in the morning for an interview and would start questioning in a bullish manner. Sounding tired and sleepy from a previous engagement, Tupas courteously gave in to the request without question. It is public knowledge that the man has been generous of his time to accommodate anyone who needs his immediate attention from dusk till dawn. After all, he has been a public servant for the last three decades and will remain one, untainted up to the last breath of his life--God willing.

In the course of the interview, the reporter failed to conceal his biases when he conducted his interrogation rather than extracting truth in fairness to his interviewee. The governor never showed a trace of irritation despite the dirty finger arrogantly pointed to him. It was innate in his character not to retaliate throwing the same trash back to its donor. He would rather let them stink and drown in their own shit.

Unknown to the governor, right in his backyard, a serpent is freely hissing around ready to give a deadly bite without provocation. Never mind if this serpent was initially conceived and raised as a harmless delicate looking two-legged creature. As this creature rapidly matures in so short a span, strangely its physical appearance and manner of behavior started to transform from being meek into a ferocious anaconda. So ferocious he wanted to infuse his venom against the person responsible for picking him up from the gutter where he originated. He thought for a while he could smoothly manage to crawl on his own. He started to test the waters by creating a ripple in anticipation of a tsunami. Somehow, it does, but far from the magnitude of a tragedy he was expecting like the recent calamity which hit five of our Asian neighboring countries. His was a man-made calamity or worst a fabricated one.

It was a great blunder on his part when he allowed himself to be exploited by his former benefactor primarily to hit the governor without mercy for the desperate aim to be on top of the airtime survey.

Obviously, this man has no sense of gratitude.   The essence of humbleness and loyalty is never found in his vocabulary.

Am just wondering where he was when the Lord in His last moment of creation decided to spread intelligence among mankind and other lowly creatures. Lucky even a cockroach was blessed with one.

Why, is he too much in a hurry to be an instant phenomenon -- let him bake his own cake and eat it too. Think of karma, sir.

Honestly, I have nothing but pity for you. Why? You are a serpent on the loose!
