My Brother-in-law & other stories

The man who always forget

I had a co-employee who is very forgetful but is a nice guy you would not forget. On his first week in office, we asked him to file a telegram but he forgot to send it that day.  He retrieved the telegram the following day in the right pocket of his shirt which he sent to the laundry! Being new, we excused him for what happened.

But he continued to be forgetful.  One day he decided to get married.  It is good, I thought, so somebody now can remind him when he forgets.  A week before the wedding, he and his bride meticulously prepared the invitations in order not to miss any one in the office. But when their wedding day came, not one from the office was present.  His bride cried because she thought his co-employees boycotted their wedding reception.  The truth is that he forgot to distribute the invitation cards which he kept in his desk drawer!

Then even when he has already children, he kept on forgetting.  He brings lunch to the office for him and his two sons who are studying at a nearby school.  One day, after lunch, he was reading the day's newspaper when, suddenly, he jumped off from his chair.  He rushed to get his two children in school.  He forgot to fetch them for lunch that day until it was already 1:30 p.m.

Later, he resigned from the office and went to work abroad with his wife. After a few years there, I think he made good and returned home to build a new house.  He had it blessed and inaugurated recently and invited all his old colleagues in our office to attend the party.  But he has not changed at all.  Again, he forgot.  He forgot to invite me even when I was his former boss!
