PIA now accepts IWAG '05 award nominations

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) 6 is now ready to accept nominations for the 2005 IWAG award, an incentive scheme, which gives recognition to campus paper writers who excel in development communication.

The PIA 6 has been citing students for promoting national development through the campus publications, since 1977.

The nominees must be bonafide staff members of their schools' main or departmental publications; who are graduating this school year 2004-2005; and, meet all the prescribed criteria in the IWAG Award Evaluation Form.

The other criteria/requirements for the IWAG Award are: 1) each publication is entitled to only one nominee who has qualified based on the decision of the school's selection committee; 2) the nominee must have participated in PIA 6 basic journalism seminars; 3) the nominee must submit the following supporting documents: for college – clippings of five major devcom articles written and published during the school years 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 certified by the school paper advisers; certificates/certifications of involvement in community and school activities, communication work experience and trainings, and academic and scholastic achievements. For high school nominees, on the other hand, the same supporting papers are required, except that they are only asked to submit at least three clippings of their devcom articles.

The IWAG award will be given to a nominee who has obtained an average rating of at least 85% from the IWAG Award Evaluation Committee of the PIA 6, whose decision is considered final.  More details on this can be obtained from all PIA offices in Aklan , Antique, Capiz , Negros Occidental and Iloilo .  (PIA/ ESSubong ).
