Armand Tajanlangit
A soul of unfathomed songs and music

“Don't you know you're a part of my story, don't you know you filled a few pages in me…” these lines, yes, these straightforward yet deeply poetic lines fused with his piano haunting melodies unveil the unfathomed music of a fiery, optimistic soul with a reverie to sing with the waves of Boracay's gentle seashore…

The making of a singing soul and the band

INSATIABLE. Armand's musical passion is deeper, greater and vast as life itself as seen in his radiant eyes.

Armand Tajanlangit , who hails from Roxas City , Capiz , is only 22 years old. He took his elementary education at Assumption-Iloilo and finished high school at Westbridge , an exclusive school for boys. Later he pursued Interdisciplinary Studies at Ateneo de Manila where he recently graduated. “Cease the day” is Armand's favorite philosophy that reflects his versatility. Playing the piano, singing, walking through the shores of Boracay , reading books, internet surfing and chatting are among his hobbies. His favorite movies include Moulin Rouge, Braveheart , Vanilla Sky and Before Sunset. Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks are his most admired Hollywood stars. His musical influences and idols are Gary Valenciano , Basty Artadi of Wolfgang, Josh Groban and Alex Band of the Calling.

Armand's achievements when he was studying were astounding like his feat as English Oration winner in PRISAA during his grade school years and member of Ateneo Glee Club. He gained recognition in an inter-school songwriting contest sponsored by the Manila Archdioceses and Jesuit Music Ministry Building in August 2003. His musical inclinations were awakened by his passion for singing and writing that spawned his dream to form a band then establish a successful musical career. In fact, last June 2004 barely months after his college graduation he decided to stay in their family-owned resort in Boracay to start his dream of forming a band. Then Noel Garcia, a versatile saxophone player and Sammy Tambanillo , a famous guitarist/arranger from Bacolod were hired to complete his band that they later called “ Boracay Republic ”. For almost two months now the three-man band that plays acoustic and alternative music with a distinct Boracay chill-out sound entertains the party-living crowd of Ratsy Boracay which his family co-owns. In fact, Armand recently arranged recording sessions for his band in one recording studio in Iloilo City in preparation to launch a musical career. The band continues to create and gather original materials for their debut album soon and Armand's fiery ambition to crack in the OPM musical scene remained in his heart for he loves music all his life. Right now he has written almost 45 songs and one of them is a song entitled “21 Days” for his German pianist friend Greg Sohn . Armand is a true musical sage because he can astonishingly compose songs by just playing his piano whenever his inspired mood comes out and his voice…well it's a mesmerizing voice that makes Christian Bautista a much lousy alter-ego, so to speak!

The singing soul speaks

UNFATHOMABLE. Armand's inspiration to write music came from the deepest abyss of his unfathomed sentiment and radiant memories.

“Music makes me happy but relationship problems with friends and family makes me sad” (Speaking about sentiments, these are relevant realities that makes him happy and sad)

“Regrets? Oh well, not resting and getting enough sleep all the time is unhealthy for me plus lack of practice for the band” (Very practical words! On his regrets in life)

“First, I really want to travel a lot through music with the band. Second, international success for our musical career and third, I want the band to be financially blessed so that we can pursue our creative plans” (Truly optimistic huh! That's Armand's 3 wishes in life right now)

“I write songs when I'm in thinking mood, appreciating life, remembering happy memories and meeting people” (Radiant moods I guess! This is the best mood where he writes great songs)

“Sometimes I want to be like Josh Groban … you know he has a mesmerizing voice, success and talent!” (Someday you'll be, trust me! That's him on being somebody else)

“Music is really powerful and universal; it can change and deeply affect people that imply a strong message to go for your dreams, for lasting peace and enjoyable life” (Nice definition of music huh!)

“Sex has different moods so it can be compared to all kinds of music” (Alternatively hot! Well, here's the query, “If sex can be compared to a genre of music?”)

“People doesn't know that I have a very sharp mind of recalling events or conversations, I'm a spiritual person but not religious and I'm heavier than I look” (Whew! That's 3 things people doesn't know about Armand)

“What I love in Boracay is the beauty of the place, the people and the priceless memories but I hate the deteriorating garbage, corruption as seen in some unfixed roads and the aggressive attitude of the vendors to sell” (Okay, these are the 3 things he love and 3 things he hate about Boracay )

“Gosh !... I   don't know why I utter this expression all the time hehe !” (Whew! I'm truly thankful to meet a sensible musical soul who could sing like the blissful waves of Boracay's seashore…)
